Reading Fairy Canterbury

Sita Turner

My name is Sita and I am super excited to finally be able to shout from the rooftops that I am taking over Reading Fairy Canterbury! My 3 passions in life are reading, music and baby development so I like to think that Reading Fairy and I are a match made in heaven! My whole background is literature, from racing through the next in the series of the Famous Five when I was younger, to my English literature degree in my early twenties and my career as a secondary school English teacher before I had my son. After I had my son, I decided to try a new path and have been running Baby Sensory Canterbury and Ashford for over a year now. When I was approached to run Reading Fairy as well, my heart took a flying leap. I strongly believe in encouraging children to read from a young age and despite the strange looks, I was the one reading to my baby when he was only 1 day old. In fact the excitement of getting him registered was quickly overshadowed by receiving his 2 free books and his very first library card! There is no doubt that my son's favourite book is 'The Gruffalo' and between myself and my husband we must have read it to him over 200 times. I am a fan of the very strange but entertaining Jon Klassen stories although I have a particular soft spot for Emma Dodd's 'I am small' which reduced me to tears when my son was small. I can't wait to get to know you all, there are so many exciting developments in Reading Fairy and I can't wait to be a part of it
