Give the Gift of Reading

We’re asking you to help us share the gift of reading as part of the National Year of Reading 2026.

From 17 November we're collecting good-quality books for babies, toddlers and young children to donate to local families who may not otherwise have books of their own and help The National Literacy Trust reach their goal of gifting One Million Gifts of Reading in December.

If you’ve got children's books at home that your little one has grown out of but are still in lovely condition, we’d love you to donate them!

If you currently attend a Reading Fairy class, please check with your class practitioner that they are able to accept donations before bringing books to class between 17 November and 5 December and we’ll do the rest.

If you’re not currently attending a class but would still like to help by donating, please get in touch via our Facebook page.

Every book donated could help another child discover the joy of stories, rhymes and reading. You can read more about the National Year of Reading 2026 and their One Million Gifts of Reading campaign on their website goallin.org.uk.
